Handicap International exists to support the needs of disabled people in countries affected by poverty and conflict. We provide both emergency relief and long term development support. Prevention Handicap International aims to eliminate preventable causes of disability. For example, we provide mine risk awareness in countries affected by conflict. We are also active in promoting measures to reduce the effects of road traffic accidents in developing countries. Rehabilitation Handicap International aims to meet the needs as well as the rights of disabled people. For instance, where relevant, we provide physiotherapy services which enable disabled people to become mobile and able to access services. Inclusion Handicap International is working towards the full inclusion and participation of disabled people in all aspects of life. For example, as well as supporting Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs), we encourage mainstream organisations to include disabled people

The Thomley Hall Centre Ltd has been going since 2001, it was established to provide a safe and caring environment for children with a disability and their families. Our Activity Centre has a sensory room, softplay area, music room, art and craft room, partent resource room and lots of outdoor activities such as a sensory garden and large outdoor musical equipment which is great fun. We are open from Tuesday - Friday during term time to allow access to schools with disabled children to use the facilities. During holidays and Saturdays we are open for children and families to use. Our staff put on activies and events for the children to join in. Children have to be accompanied by a parent or carer but adults have access to our canteen, outdoor seating areas and the parent resource room. We are proposing to establish a social programme for adults next year and are very excited about this.
